extended premise

Magisteria is a panfandom roleplay game. It is multi-genre, though its primary influences are fantasy, science fiction, and solar-cyberpunk. Characters will find themselves transplanted into a world of diverse peoples and fantastic beings, a supposed utopia of urban metropolitan progress in which the technology of the distant future co-exists alongside ancient magic and gods which arose at the beginning of time itself.

The world is named Medeas, first world born after the birth of the multiverse, and a nexus point amid all worlds. For millennia now, Medeas has been taking in material from throughout the cosmos via rifts known as Infinity Corridors. This material consists of virtually anything: Otherworlders (including humans), all manner of creatures, forms of technology, and even things which merely exist conceptually on other worlds. Basically, if something exists in humankind’s imagination – or in the imagination of other entities – it could be embodied as “real” upon the world of Medeas. Past and future converge within Medeas and its capital, the city-state of Magisteria: a place which the natives deem The Eternal City, the most singular of all cities, the city which embodies untold generations' hopes and dreams of sustainability and progress.

The game will feature a metaplot filled with challenges and conflicts whose actors and dimensions will be gradually unveiled via events and quests.

The aim is to provide players and characters with suspense, room for exploration, and of course, plenty of space to grow and constantly improve via both internal and external conflict. Themes will include self-actualization, the pursuit of autonomy and the struggle for selfhood, the ramifications of technology on society (albeit in a fantastical form), the tension between tradition and progress, the tensions of societal stratification, and plenty of other narrative beats, some of which will continue to remain mysterious for the time being, or which we hope will come as fun surprises.

And, of course, characters and players are greatly encouraged to make their own arcs within and throughout the game narrative.
